Not a bad memory for me at all. Sure, the Sefra stuff kind of sucked, and
the Series Finale was nothing to write home about, but I still got 5 good
years out of the show, and I will still continue to watch the repeats. I
watched it since day one, and I plan on keeping it up.
As for 'audience fading', well the show is over, so there is not really much
to talk about anymore. Does not mean that everyone hated the show.

Yeah, me, too. I only wish they would start the repeats from an older season and
work their way to the end.

I never understand why stations do that. It would seem that most people,
especially new viewers of the show would want to see it from the start.

I don't know, but it seems this is a decision that applies only to Andromeda;
they've been running Mutant X from show one pretty much in order. Curiouser and
curiouser, said Alice.

I have been a huge Knight Rider fan since I was little and I used to watch
it last year as well on a Barrie, Ontario station, The NewVR. They usually
showed the series from start to finish, but there were a few 2 parters of
that series. Every time (the show only lasted 4 years so the re-runs at 1 a
day did not take long to come around full circle) when they would show a 2
parter, they would show part 2 first, followed by part 1 the next day.
Always made me kind of wonder how people would know what is going on in the
finale of a 2 part episode before they have seen the beginning. Anyway, I
e-mailed them once asking that very question, and they said that mistakes
happen, especially when someone confuses the Prod. # of an episode. I think
the jist of it is that most stations run whatever they want, when they want
and in whatever order they want. They kindly leave it to us to figure out
what is going on.

I guess that's true. I've been wondering why the local UPN station has been airing
(new) Outer Limit episodes willy-nilly, not that most of those are worth watching
in any order-- yet they can air all of the X- Files in order. I guess as the song
says, "that's just the way it is."

True, very true. I myself never got much into X-Files, but I did really like
that one episode when Mulder kept reliving the same day over and over again
until he figured out how to stop the blowing up of the bank. As for the new
Outer Limits, I enjoyed watching that show whenever I managed to find it on,
but it was never something I looked for. I just saw it when I happened to be
channel hopping and found it.

While Portland has become the armpit of the Pacific northwest lately, it is a
great market for sci-fi. On the weekends the WB station carries Mutant X and
Andromeda; the UPN station carries Stargate SG-1, X-Files, Outer Limits (out of
sequence), and earlier Veronica Mars episodes; while the FOX affiliate also airs
both the X-Files and Stargate SG-1 (but not the same ones as on the UPN station).
For some obscure reason last year both the FOX and UPN stations switched
affiliates with each other so
it gets bloody confusing sometimes but there's never a shortage of sci-fi both.

Confusing seems to be TV's middle name these days, what with the flood of
'reality shows' and all.

It has to do with contracts, clearances and residuals and that _Mutant X_ is
now out of first run. Rather than shelling out money for production Tribune is
now shelling out (considerably less) money for residuals to run old eps.

For _Andromeda_ even though the series has completed its run of new episodes
this is still first-run season five until the first week in October. The way
production contracts are usually set up is that all runs of an episode during
it's first-run season are paid for up front as part of the production cost.
Episodes shown outside the initial first run season window require the payment
of residuals.

Bottom line, right now showing fifth season repeats of _Andromeda_ in the
weekly syndication package costs Tribune nothing. Showing earlier season
episodes would require making residual payments.

If Tribune continues the weekly broadcast syndication package into another
season as they've done in the past with other series then I'd expect to see a
run through from the beginning. Last I heard which has been quite a while,
nothing had been decided on the future of _Andromeda_ past this season.
Everything was on hold until SciFi decided whether to pick up their option or
not. And it wasn't said but IMO it was probably too late to place the series
in broadcast syndication for the 2006 season so a broadcast run would probably
be no earlier than 2007.
