What non-movie mATERIAL IS CONSIDERED 'canon' in regards to Star Wars?
What books? tech manuals? comics? SW is getting almost as bad as Trek
when it comes to an absolutely BEWILDERING spectrum of stuff available.
Is Tim Zahn's first trilogy canon? any help or link would be
appreciated!

Seeing as this has been cross-posted to multiple newsgroups, you are
apparently just a troll.

to answer my query. but, as per usenet, the amount of useful info is
zero.

Cross-posting, especially to newsgroups that are not about the topic, is
"frowned upon" and marks you as a troll.

You should have simply posted the question in a Star Wars newsgroup if you
were seriously asking, so obviously you either are a newbie or ARE a troll.
Either way you won't get any proper answers via a cross-post.

Wait a second...Is this Usenet's #2 Troll trying to tell someone else they
are a Troll? My head hurts...

i am neither a noob or a troll and usenet is pretty 'loose' when it
comes to rules of netiquette. i put the request in the most plACES in
the most efficient manner. quite ergonomic of me, i must say. lol.

Irrelevant. The group title should tell you what is acceptable and what is
not. Or should I post questions on my car to a group about aircraft..?

Well, at last a little info. thank you.
i think that the old 'multiverse' rules apply and all permutations are
possible, kind of like Heinleins concept of 'Pantheistic Multi-Ego
Solipsism' or the old adage 'all worlds that can exist , do'. it is a
personal judgement what to include in a personal version of the SW
universe.

Ok, fine...

What is canon?

Canon is the authorized or accepted truth or rule. The views on canon
can range from people who say only the movies are canon to those who
think everything under the sun that was released about Star Wars from
film to radio drama to comic to novel is canon.

Most people are somewhere in between, picking and choosing what they
decide depicts the "true" Star Wars universe. Since George Lucas and
the rest of Lucasfilm have never officially stated what they authorize
as canon, there's absolutely nothing that will back up your claim on
what may be considered canon in the Star Wars universe other than
people's opinions.

Remember: everyone is entitled to their own opinion whether or not you
agree with them.
