just watched the series finale to andromeda again. it just seemed as if
everyone was finally glad it was over and they couldn't wait to get off
the set. when sorbo turned the lights out at the very end it had almost
the aspect of a mercy killing.

I agree; the ending just felt like it was rushed and all. After
hearing and seeing what the Abyss was capable of during the show's
episodes, it sure died easily in the last episode. :)

They had a full season to wrap everything up, so what would you expect
for the series finale?

Something more than the Abyss going out with basically a whimper, I
guess. In the battles that the Andromeda had with the Abyss during
the seasons, I would have thought that the final battle would have
been more, I don't know, tougher?

Andromeda basically slid down into an Abyss after the first season,
anyway. The quality and cohesion of the storyline declined, even though
occasional flashes of the old brilliance came through in individual eps.
season five was a painful mockery and travesty. the story was unclear by
this time and contradictory. [Witness: in an earlier ep, they
encountered a "traditional" Vedran and things said that Tarn Vedra was
intact and still was in the condition it was when it was Homeworld of
the Commonwealth and the Commonwealth government/ military structurs was
still up and running.]
Then, the Vedran system had been reconstructed into the Seefra
configuration and the Vedrans were gone and had been for centuries. WTF?
It was a mercy when it ended.

Hmm, well as a relative newcomer to the series (they've never shown all of
it from start to finish as far as I'm aware here in the UK, although ITV4
has just started a rerun of series 1) I've not seen anywhere near all of
it. I did see the finale of series 3 a while ago (where Tyr did the dirty
on them and left) but I only recall the odd few episodes other than that.

Just bought the box set of all 5 series on DVD at a very good price on
eBay though, so have a lot of catching up to do..!
