"Andromeduh (or "Rommie) started out as just the AI that would appear on
viewscreens or pop up in the corridors as a hologram. A few episodes
into the series Harper put together the android avatar, in order to
increase the sexual innuendo. They have security bots when the writers
can't think of any other way to deal with intruders (one ep Dylan
actually had a coherent thought: increase the gravity on the deck the
intruders had boarded). Or sometimes they'll just stand by and let the
Magog swarm the ship".
*****
<Or any other "funny lookin' critters" that happen to invade the ship.
And then, of course, Dylan and everyone massacre the invaders, who
outnumber them hundreds to one, and end up with the Crew triumphantly
standing over legions of dead enemies and making juvenile smartass
humor. It got to be the standard scenario in season two/three, but by
season five they were no spending so much on makeup budgets and the
quality of the aliens they killed en masse was falling. By the fifth
season they were killing third rate morlocks in the seefra underground
instead of magog or more exotically costumed extras. save money where
you can!>

andromeda"?

I think the question was "Why were there robot ninjas aboard the
andromeda"?
Didn't they suddenly just appear one day?
Come to think of it, didn't they also just disappear?

Rommie was originally one of those droids and Harper modified "it" into
"her" [rommie]. Those drones were kinda like the human crew on andomeda.
just kinda there, one day. I thought it was cool when they got skragged
by some enemy. I think most of them got wiped out the first time they
met up with the Worldship.
