and Sorbo's pilot is conspicuous by its absence. That's too bad. I was rooting
for it. It sounded more promising than most of this season's sitcom pilot crop
plus IMO would have been a good fit paired either with _According to Jim_ or
_Hope and Faith_.

But _Jake in Progress_ got picked up and _Boston Legal_ has a 27 episode
season on tap so all is ok with the ABC world.

I loved the ep where Denny met Denny Jr. The introductions were
hilarious:

Denny Crane--
Denny Crane--
Denny Crane--
Denny Crane--

The scene went on like that for a minute and had me in stitches.

Either way, it still cracked me up. I love Shatner; I think he has
gotten so much more talented in his "old age" than he ever was back in
the Star Trek/ Kirk days.

My only wish is the Reeves-Stevens would make a screenplay of their book
Avenger, so there would be a final Star Trek movie with both Kirk and
Picard.

No, he's just more relaxed about himself, he's not trying to act any more.

It won't happen now that Paramount has pretty much killed Trek, but a
good script based upon Garfield and Judith Reeves-Steven's books would
be infinitely better than what B&B could ever conceive. The
Reeves-Stevens are the only two who brought life into the last season of
Enterprise, where none of the other piss-brain writers could.

But I for one would've like to have seen Kirk up against the Borg. But a
screen adaptation of their book Avenger would bring back Kirk and Spock
as well as Picard and crew of the Enterprise-E. You should read the
book; it's terrific.

From what I read yesterday, Jake in Progress was lucky it got renewed.
Apparantly its ratings are not that good... I have yet to actually SEE
an episode.

Bostal Legal is great though, so I like that 27 episode season idea...
I may actually remember to watch up to 5 eps this year!

I've seen them all. It's moderatly funny, and had some promising
characters.

Thursday nights got pretty busy for a while, with Tru Calling, Jake In
Progress, Blue Collar Comedy and Will&Grace all airing at about the
same time.

It's great. The renewal was quite surprising based on just ratings but then
_Jake in Progress_ was up against CBS and NBC's blockbuster Thursday lineups.
Even a dismal third place can be considered successful there, a point FOX has
refused to condede with the cancelations of _Tru Calling_.

But _JIP's_ non future had been considered such a certainty that several of
the players were alreasy moving on. Wendie Malick was attached to _Modern
Men_, a new WB pickup which will now have to recast. Julie Bowen, _JIP's_
"Butterfly" is joining _Boston Legal_ next season. No word on how that will
resolve but being the same network she might be able to do both. And John
Stamos is rumored to have been in the midst of negogiations to join _ER_, but
that could just be PR wrangling.

It's restitution for being robbed of five eps this season when _Grey's
Anatomy_ absconded with the timeslot.

Did you catch James Spader on _Conan_ last Friday? Hilarious. The five eps are
already filmed including one featuring Alan and Denny *spooning*. Spader's
description was hilarious. Shatner has a "fine venison" smell. LOL

There's a possibility though that portions of the five eps will be reshot to
set up the departure of Monica Potter and Rhona Mitra from the cast. Combined
with the earlier departure of Lake Bell the entire original female cast is now
out.

Are you serious? With those two gone, what's the point of the show?
Is it going to be just Schmidt and Denny Crane? I hope they add a dwarf
talking backwards, just to bring a touch of sanity.
