been watching lots of andromeda on dvd. first season was by far the
best, dvd's had great features on the background of the commonwealth and
other stuff. too bad they never did a techmanual or guide to the
andromeda universe. wolfe's departure was their death knell. is very sad
to watch tyr downgraded to a shallow 2d villain by season four and his
unceremonious demise in the abyss was pathetic. his character was one of
the most interesting aspects of the show, and one of the most developed.
the two best and thought provoking characters, rev, bem and tyr were
phased out and the pointless firefights and half realized metaphysics of
trance were played up. If only they had stayed the course and it could
have been one of the great series of SF. If only...

Indeed. After reading RHW's "Coda", where he talked about some of
the plans he had for the show, I'm convinced /Andromeda/ could have
been another /Babylon 5/. As you say, if only...
