Am working my way thru Season3 onwards and though the series
has gone downhill v.quickly I'm sticking with it.
A big reason is Tyr.
I've read that after leaving the series they powers-that-be bring
him back, without his hair and proceed to kill him off by shooting
him in the back whilst running away like a scared chicken - and
in so doing completely ruin the character.
I'd kinda like not to have this as my final memory of him.
Soooo, does anyone know which episode this happens so I can
stop watching the episode before - or even just skip that one
entirely.

Season 4, first two eps of the second DVD...
episodes 406 and 407 (Soon the Nearing Vortex and
The World Turns All Around Her)

We also learn about Trance's true nature and the Route
of Ages and get a first hand look at the home of the Abyss
and they bring back Rhade.

Not a fav of mine either, but hey, Tyr got to be King of the
Nietzscheans for awhile there with money, power, women...

and they didn't cut off his hair...it wasn't a wig..it was his
real hair...when he went back to soaps,he cut it off...so
when he came back for a visit, whallah...no dreadlocks anymore.

Then again, Andromeda was always up and down, even from
the beginning...4 is esp hit and miss....
and since I didn't like Wolfe's plans for the
characters anyway...esp Harper...so I wasn't tearful when they
changed directions. The series was fun, even if it wasn't doing
much new, and it was fun because of the characters...I wanted
them to bring back Rev (as Rev), keep Tyr, not mess with
Harper and keep having adventures...in some regard, they got
back to that in season 5, even if they were out of budget at
that point... :) (Purposely being obtuse if you haven't seen
all the eps yet...)

Obtuseness is perfect :)

From what you said re: S5 I'm kinda encouraged to grab that season too
My megashares monthly pass runs out in two days so that'll give me
just enough time to get the final 22 eps. (Broadband rocks!)

re: Tyr, I thought his shot-in-the-backkilling-whilst-fleeing and
hairal-castration was due to severe jealousy on Mr Sorbi part.
Tyr being the more favoured character (and having better hair!)
, and all that.
But to use his death as a reason to stop I'm gonna miss out on almost
40 episode of space battles, shoot-em-ups and Harper tryn to get into
Raimis pants.

Anyway, maybe his death wasn't all that pathetic :)

Ta for the reply

I may be getting senile, but I don't remember him being shot in
the back...he was totally losing it and tryiing to trade Beka to
the Abyss for his own freedom...as I remember it, he wasn't
shot in the back, but fell backwards into the Abyss itself...meaning
he could be alive somewhere...no confirmation was ever made
as to his really being dead.

As to his hair, considering how well he took care of it (they really
were dreadlocks, not braids...he babied them carefully) it must have
killed him to cut them off. No wig could've come close to their number,
size and quality--maybe the producers should have put in a clause that
required him to keep the hair, even if he cut them off, so that they
could make a wig out of them for the future. :)

AND
Some fans have argued that he was sent through to a parallel
dimension and was reborn as Ronin (sp?) on Stargate: Atlantis...there
is a slight resemblance and that character does generally make
Atlantis a lot more fun,humor-ish to watch--a good counterpoint to the
seriousness and a good foil for McKay's brand of humor. :)

Had to act quick and cover the screen .

I don't know 100% that he was shot in the back.

It's just something I remember reading when sm1 was explaining
how downhill the series had gone, and how they'd ruined one
of the best characters by portraying him as a coward, etc.

From the looks/sounds of things my meory might be a little
screwy ... maybe this hot weather has mushed by brain. :(

There are a lot of Tyr/Keith fans who are convince that Tyr
didn't actually die, just made it look as if he had <G>.

Trance said something earlier in the episode along the lines that
the crew would see what they wanted to see and be where they
wanted to be. It would not surprise me at all if Tyr already knew
this and played along <G>.
