That sounds interesting, too bad I not enough of a masochist to watch
Andromeda...
http://www.rhwolfe.com/Coda/Andromeda___Coda.pdf
It's a bit of a look at what might have been, written as fan fiction by
Robert Hewitt Wolfe, who was a writer on Andromeda before he was fired
for writing stories that, in star Kevin Sorbo's words, were "too
intelligent for anyone to understand".
I hated Andromeda too, but I must admit I often got the notion there was
some substance that simply escaped me. The problem, however, is that I do
trust my own intelligence and I have an ordinary fellow's background in
history, literature, arts, and sciences.

Therefore, if Andromeda was doing something either way over my head or
making reference to obscure sci-fi backstories, it still has to take the rap
for appearing to me as incoherent.

If Wolfe was doing something sophisticated, it sure didn't appear that way,
it looked like a rainstorm of crapdoodle, and I was heavily motivated try to
grasp it. I'd say I watched at least 40 or more episodes, sometimes in
continuous order. I love sci-fi, but I still hated Andromeda.

Did you watch the first season, or the later seasons?

He was gone after the first.

I probably saw most or all of that first season - I had huge hopes that it
would be good.

At that time, there was very little else good. No BSG, no SGA, and I didn't
know about FIREFLY, so I kept watching ANDROMEDA from time to time trying to
extract some good from it. That was a true exercise in frustration. Then
there seemed to be some sort of insane re-boot/re-set at the end of season
4(?) Terrible stuff.

But it seems to be standard stuff for Tribune. They did the same thing
with "Earth: Final Conflict." It was truly a great show the first
season and then Tribune started 'improving' things and the show never
recovered the magic of that first season. I'm amazed it survived five
years given how many people had nothing good to say about what they
did to the show.

It just demonstrates that viewers are starved for televised science fiction
that isn't "Star Trek".
