Post by Boris Dieter BlancmeierPost by Boris Dieter Blancmeier"Wait 10 years, and then some super-creative producer will
"reimagine" Andromeda in a Sci-Fi mini series.
Dylan will become Diane, the ultra-conservative Muslim
woman, Tyr will be recast as a young man from New Jersey who just can't
seem to get anything to go his way, Becca will remain the same
physically, but she'll be a ditzy blonde this time around. Harper will
be the engineer who flubbed out of tech school and can't make anything
he builds work the way he actually intends it to. Trance will be blue
this time around. Then will spontaneously be replaced with a red version
of herself with bigger breasts in Part II of the mini series."
Do you think they will wait a whole ten years before pulling this stunt?
That new version sounds more like a version of "Firefly", than
Andromeda.
Wha-huh?
Okay, I see nothing "Fireflyesque" about Ryan P's. . . story dystopia.
I have however toyed with my own ideas for an Andromeda remake:
(originally posted: 03/05/2004)
20-30 years from now, someone will launch a remake, possibly re-envisioning
Dylan as an angsty, worn-out leader on the brink of retirement, only being
held together by Rommie's constant efforts, and misinterpreting her
forbidden love as a ship's expected loyalty to its captain. The magog would
be expensive CGI, looking kinda like the orcs from LotR. Tyr would be
regressed to younger than Harper's age; a malourished, beaten slave child,
with a will of iron, and the blood of gods and emperors thundering in his
veins. Trance would be a child-like goddess (a cheery counterpart to the
brooding boy-Tyr), with Rev a renegade magog as her towering, monstrous
apprentice/accolyte. Beka could be a strung-out Flash addict, who joins
Dylan's mad crusade on a lark and ends up finding something worth living
for. Harper would be a weathered mechanic with flashes of genius, holding
Beka together for "one last job" just as Rommie is helping Dylan. . .
