What happened to Andromeda in Season 5 ??

Up until then Andromeda had a chance to reach the heights of mediocrity and
then in Season 5 the show really went downhill !!!

Were the writers from Earth Final Conflict turned loose on Andromeda, was
Kevin Sorbo no able to take the show seriously (if he ever did), or was it
something else ???

Andromeda had been sliding into the crapper since season two, but did
the deep six in season five. It was the most disjointed, pointless waste
of film ever, and that includes the HORRIBLE fifth season of EFC. I
think TPTB that ran Andromeda had utter contempt for a scifi audience,
in assuming all one wants to see is spaceship battles and scantily clad
women [mind you, those are not bad incentives for watching a show] and
letting the storylines and continuity go to hell. I don't know how
seriously Sorbate took andromeda to begin with, but by season five all
the characters were shams and had been wasted.
